Goal:    Kozaky is a living history group formed to provide a window into the life of mid-seventeenth century East Europe, in particular that most misunderstood of characters,

The Knightly Brotherhood of Kozaky!


Activities:

I, To develop an authentic recreation of Zaporozhian Cossacks (Kozaky) under Bohdan Khmelnitsky 1648-57 with the typical camp followers.

II, To develop authentic (yet safe) recreations of dueling and military practices of the period.

III, To enjoy feasting, games, fellowship and dancing in the style of the period.

 

       Description:   Currently about 15 members, each equipped with at least the basics of life for the Kozaky lifestyle and period. The group meets the last Saturday of the month near Tyler, TX to practice live blade sabre technique, character development, and general discussion. Their equipment is quite extensive, providing a living history display with everything from playing cards to medical equipment, small arms to horse jaw axes, cooking utensils to tents, all correct to period. Presenters are available capable giving expert, yet very lively talks on their period at levels from kindergarten to post graduate.
